ABV: 10.0%. Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, cherry, almonds, marzipan. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration, cherry, almonds, marzipan, dark malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming. Pours black. No real head. Scent is intense, roasty, almond & cherries in equal parts. Taste is sharp, medium high carbo, medium body. Roasty, cherries ( with its sweetness ánd tartness ) almonds behind it. decent, even if you don't like almonds (like me)

Bottle @Saxo. Black, beige head. Almond aroma, some cherry. A lot of almonds, not too aritficial, which is a delicate balance. Sweet flavour, almond, cherry kernels, some cherry berry tartness and sweetness. Nice.

Bottle @ Saxo tasting. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, cherries and light almond. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. Oily. 200321

Bottle. A dark brown beer with almost no head. Almond, cherry and quite a lot of roasted malts in the aroma. Biscuits. It's full bodied and lightly warming, smooth, with a soft carbonation. Roasted malts, coffee, biscuits, some dried fruits and a touch of cherry in the flavor. Lasting finish. Nice. 210312

Almost opaque dark brown beer, short lived tan head. Nose of almonds and choccy malt. Smooth palate, fairly light, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth mellow dark malts, a mild dark chocolate vibe, slightly fruity and tangy. Obvious almond, floral almond, almond flavouring. Good cherry, not really sour but making its presence known. Light finish. Yeah, does what it says on the tin. But drinking this brew I am wondering what it was about Pohjala that used to make it a must try brewery. It really isn't anymore and I can't put my finger on why. This beer doesn't scream Pohjala, it could have been served up by any number of breweries. Maybe that's it. Still not sure.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate, almond, licorice, cherry, caramel and a little smoke. Taste has mildly tart cherry, chocolate, caramel, almond, licorice and malt. Not very complex or rich, just a nice fruity almond porter.
