Is a golden, pale beer boasting a tremendous creaminess that marries ingeniously with its flowery bitterness.

Handpull cask at the Ale Wagon, Leicester. Golden brown, clear, very little head. Light notes of overripe tangerine peel, grass, a hint of sulphur. Taste is sweet, more ripe citrus, astringent hops in the long finish. Slick oily body with kumquat peel bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. A very British pale ale. Nice.

Surprised I haven’t rated this before as the name sounds very familiar. Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with minimal off-white head. There’s summer fruits and apples in the aroma. In the mouth it’s floral hops with autumn fruits and biscuits. Later on there is some bitterness and hints of ginger. Finish is slightly bitter and sticky. This is reasonable. Not sure about calling it a “best bitter” though – more a pale or golden ale.

Half-pint, cask, hand-pulled in The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire on 19th Sep 2016. Slight haze to the light golden body, on top a white head. Floral aroma and flavours, strange softness to the palate, could not get my head around the smooth body or the actual taste, which I found too wishy-washy. Had the beer in between two highly hopped APA’s so might have been poisoned by their strength and depths of flavour.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines. Poured a light hazy amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is crisp yeasty and with a little mint. The flavour is medium bitter, yeasty and with a little liqourice on the smooth refreshing palate. I liked this beer, but its no ESB as it suggests here!

500ml bottle. Pours light golden with a large, frothy head. Aroma is slightly buttery, very grassy hops. Pale malt start. Grassy hop finish with some lemon. Very lively.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of fruit and some malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruits, and a bit of spices, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours an almost clear golden with a frothy off-white head shaving foam style. Fresh citrusy nose. Medium body, sweet and fruity with no hops to speak of. More of a Golden Ale really. 190110
