Named after brewer Mitch’s 22-pound cat, Marlowe looks like a big, mean beer, but really, it’s a cuddly little pussy cat. A roasty, coffee-like aroma is supported by the Belgian yeasts’ red berry esters, and gives way to a surprisingly light, crisp finish.

100mL pour at brewery. Pours black with small beige head. Aroma has a nice roasted malt character, along with something Belgian. Flavour also has roasted malt along with a lot of mineral, earthy character; some dry cocoa. Finish has a bit too much of the mineral stuff, but other a nice, subtle stout.

Draught at the brewery
Dark brown to black colour. Mild roast character and smooth mouthfeel, not too dry. This is quite pleasant.

A taster shared with Alex (f@ck you COVID). Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: smoky, roasty, some sweetness and dark fruits. Taste: along the same lines, kinda ashy and astringent. Overall: nah, thx.

Poured from 473mL can. Dark brown with extremely quickly dissipating tan head. Cocoa powder and Belgian yeast. Not particularly inspiring.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with light head. Aromas of cola, clay and roasted malts. Flavors follow same with light chocolate and maybe some Belgian influence if I think about it. Watery finish. Clean.

The aroma is nice chocolate coffee, molasses, some chocolate biscuit, has great foam on a deep brown blackish body. Flavour is good soft biscuit, chewy, mellow coffee notes. Good carbonation, softly dry finish. Nice, mellow, simple and easy.

473mL can, pours black with an amber tinge and a small tan head. Nose is dry, with hearty oats, a touch of dry cocoa, and a little Belgian yeast. Flavour is chocolatey and smooth, with hearty oats, dry dusty cocoa powder, and a touch of Belgian yeast. Not all that deep, but it's smooth and drinkable. Nice stuff for what it is.

Can, Legacy. Medium brown, sort of hazy. Sort of a cocoa note, light body, sweetish, kind of fudgey, Not bad, but I'd love more sweetness, body, and complexity.
