(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 2010-09-15, from Ølbutikken, 20110510) The beer poured reddish brown and hazy. Its head was medium sized, very light brown and a little bit fizzy. Aroma had raisin, dried plum, sweetness, malts and alcohol. Palate was full bodied, warming and very dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, raisin, pine resin, a little bit of sweetness, dried plum and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. I was surprised how well the hops were present even though the beer was already by its best by date. Nice hoppy barley wine with pleasant aging characteristics.

(Bottle) Hazy reddish amber colour with dense, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of caramel, treacle, fruit cake, black-currant, citrussy hops and hints of alcohol. Fruity, malty taste with caramel, dried fruit, citrus, orange peel, strawberries, treacle and fruit cake. Vinous finish with some warming alcohol and a generous bitterness with citrussy, piney hops. Almost full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, fairly sweet. Quite powerful and possibly not in absolute balance, but in my opinion a lovely beer. This one was better than the wood aged version and has probably gained some from an extra year of ageing. Excellent beer.

Bottle@home Hazy dark brown with thin light brown head. Aroma is dark fruight, raisin, caramel, and a slight hint of alcohol,. Taste is starting bitter with grape / pine notes, later on the dried fruight takes over and ends with a long warming alcohol, some bitterness to BB101015

Thanks to yespr for this one. The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Modest turbid, nice head. Starts very strong, dry-malty, earthy, fiery. Intense fruity notes of raisins. Finish intense but well balanced, fiery-alcoholic. Warming aftertaste. A masterpiece!

Thanks to madmitch76 for this fine brew. This tiny bottle pours deep amber-copper with full tan head and spotty lacing. The aroma is subtle yet complex with dark fruity notes, some apricot, mild spices, sweet tangelo and pineapple. The taste is smooth with sweet malts, sweet prunes, apricots, sweet malts, some grapefruit and tangelo citrus hoppy goodness. Pine hops join in as this head to the finish along with slight caramel candy notes. Yum.
