Black with a tall, loose, dark tan head. Rich aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate. Body is lighter than expected. Flavor comes on strong with sweet molasses, rich vanilla cream, cinnamon, lightly toasted chili pepper, bourbon and oak round it out. The chili gives some tingly heat in the finish along with sweet cacao notes. It doesn’t drink as hefty as the abv would make you believe. It’s also disjointed and the barrel aging, spices and general porter profile seem at odds with each other. Still, it’s fun and there is nothing off-putting here.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. BA supported, roasty, chocolately, dark malty, caramel malty and spicy aroma, notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, cinnamon, chili, some vanilla, Bourbon. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty, caramel malty, spicy and minimally alcoholic, notes of caramel, dark caramel, cinnamon, chili, vanilla, Bourbon BA aspects, fruity alcoholic overtones with a touch of plum, plum wine. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying, after a while also minimally pungent palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Wonderful composition, intense and quite spicy, balanced on a high level - great!

Panda thanks to Cloin. Clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, decent fine minerally carbonation on the back end. Tangy dark chocolate malts, a little malt cream. Tastes like some ginger and a pinch of chilli here. Modest bourbon barrel richness on the back end, some bourbon soaked ripe fruits. A mild spicy linger. Decent.

Bottle at home, from Cat In A Glass online, 26/08/24. Black pour topped with a big old tan head. Nose is ripe bourbon, spice, dark malts, chocolate, molasses, herb. Taste comprises bourbon soaked oak, cacao nibs, charr, roast malts, molasses, burnt toffee, vanilla essence, light green peppery spice, chocolate dipped raisins. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced spike of alcohol. Solid BA affair if running a touch sweet however the chilli spice balance helps reign this back in.

375ml bottle from Tavour. Near black pour, ring of beige head. Savory aroma, chocolate. Taste features light cinnamon, sweet, chocolate. Bourbon barrel not so much apparent as solid, roasty, sweet malty base beer. True Baltic Porter from the source.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours very dark brown with a transient, fizzy dark tan head. Aroma of cinnamon, chocolate and perhaps cherry. Bourbon upon deep inhale. Med body / fizzy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, cherry, bourbon, non-musty wood and burnt malt. Heat is not objectionable. Not dry, but not excessively sweet. Heat and wood seem to supply some bitterness. Extremely tasty.

Smell of cocoa nibs, roasted malt, cinnamon, oak, bourbon. Black colour, high brown head. Aroma of chili, syrup, cocoa nibs, oak, booze, bourbon, roasted malt. Chili feels unnecessary. Sweet. Hot palate, lively carbon.
