2009 version brewed to a different recipe and with a higher alcohol level 7.7% vs. 6.4% of the 2006/2007 version).
Included in an Innis & Gunn gift pack released to the Canadian market for fall/winter 2009. From the label: "The unique flavour of IPA originated in the 1800s during long sea journeys on the trade routes between Britain and India. Beers were transported in oak barrels containing hops, which preserved freshness, and arrived having absorbed the character of both the oak and the hops. We are delighted to present this Limited Bottling of IPA which has been oak aged with the addition of large quantities of fresh hops giving this beer a burst of orange aromas and a zesty fruity character.

Originally rated November 2009. Came in a gift pack for the Christmas season at the LCBO. Probably not the same as the limited edition IPA they made 64,000 bottles, as this one is 7.7% ABV. Close enough though. Nice pack with three of their brews and one glass. Testing this one in their glass. Pours a golden colour with a copper hue. Its head is big, creamy-bubbly white with great retention and nice rings of lace. The carbonation is very light with a few tiny bubbles here and there. The nose is pretty yeasty with notes of grass and alcohol. Beautiful creamy and smooth mouthfeel. The alcohol is also present in the taste. Mildly bitter, but not like a usual IPA (from the hop). I get a touch of green apples in the aftertaste. Some mild grain and you can almost feel the wooden barrel on your tongue in the end. Quite a complex one in the flavour department. Not a bad beer, but different from the typical IPA (and much better than the swill one).

Pours amber with a small head.Nose shows lots of vanilla, butterscotch and woody oak. Absolutely crazy. Very smooth. Not much actual hops or malt show, just a faint grassy note. Still very nice though.Similar oaky flavours, but a little bit of sweet malt enters. Not much of an IPA.Nice moderate carbonation.

(Bottle, 9 Dec 2010) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots, oak wood, toast and cream toffee. Malty, fruity taste with orange, apricots, oak wood, dried fruit, toffee and toast. Medium body, fairly sweet. Bitterness is overshadowed by the sweet and oaky character. Not perfectly balanced, but tasty and quite enjoyable.

Bottled:
Pours pale amber with a firm head. Smells like cheap Canadian whisky. Flavour is toffee, wood and alcohol; tastes like watered down Canadian whisky.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, wood, hops, and citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, butter, straw, oranges, and wood, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks Joergen for sharing.

Bottle, 2010 Edition - 55 days storage, 2010-06-18, GΓΆteborg AR: vanilla, butter scotch and pilzner (no orange there) - all aromas are almost gone after being poured AP: golden - cristal clear, 3 cm thick lasting a bit yellowish creamy head F: mm more lasting then the usaall I & G, but a bit hollow, the butter scotch is there as well as some tropical fruit hints, medium low bitterness, and slightly sour finish, a thin bit oily feeling. This was one of the better I & G Iβve tasted.

Bottle frorm Systembolaget June release 2010. Pours amber with a firm white head. Grass, vegitables and a heavy syrupy sweetness in the aroma. The taste is unfortuantely as sticky sweet as the original Innis & Gunn, if you want the "original IPA" choose BrewDog Atlantic IPA instead!
