Included in an Innis & Gunn gift pack released to the Canadian market for fall/winter 2009. From the label: "The unique flavour of IPA originated in the 1800s during long sea journeys on the trade routes between Britain and India. Beers were transported in oak barrels containing hops, which preserved freshness, and arrived having absorbed the character of both the oak and the hops. We are delighted to present this Limited Bottling of IPA which has been oak aged with the addition of large quantities of fresh hops giving this beer a burst of orange aromas and a zesty fruity character.

Part of the lcbo giftset. Very pale amber/ golden pour. Aroma of pungent English hops, with touches of caramel malt and some oaky vanilla. The flavor is rich bur there is the trademark innis and gunn butteriness that is mingling with the pungent hops. Finish is light on the bitterness but leave an odd grainy grassy note on my tongue.

Vet inte om denna eklagrade och något söta ale fungera med den här beskan, de trivs helt enkelt inte tillsammans, balansen och harmonin uteblir.

Clear bright gold beer, tiny white head. Lagerish malt nose. Palate starts soft but then has a carbonated bite. Lagerish malt, subtle vanilla oak, a little orange hop. Minerally soft finish. Really should be a lot more hoppy but it’s a nice beer. It’s lonely being an Innis & Gunn fan.

33 cl bottle @ EEIPAF. No BBE info
Typical I&G aroma hits my nose immediately when pouring. Vanilla, barrell, aged fruits. Flavour has vanilla and harsh hops, aftertaste has a lot of somewhat unpleasant wood. Still don’t like I&G house flavour with overwhelming vanilla and wood.

Bottle from Peckhams Union Square. It pours amber, with a thin fizzy white head and high carbonation. The nose is sweet malt, hay, white sugar, brioche and caramelized banana. The taste is brioche, toasted malt, hay, grass, white sugar and some alcohol warmth, with a sweet malt finish. A bit too sweet for my liking.

(bottle, 33cl, 7.7% abv) Clear, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Moderately sweet and slightly fruity (citrus, pineapples) aroma with a touch of persipan and distinctive notes of toasted oak/vanilla. Moderately sweet and mildly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Caramelly and buttery malty taste with mildly fruity notes and vanilla; sweet, slightly bitter and warming finish with vanilla in the aftertaste. Finally an interesting brew, but in general I prefer aromatic hops in my IPA. 24.III.11
