Willemoes Stout is a powerful and full-bodied top-fermented beer with a flavour of chocolate and coffee, arising from the use of toasted malt. Pleasant bitter aftertastes.

The elegant dark colour of the beer is owing to the use of dark-toasted malt.

50 cL bottle. Pours almost black with a little reddish hue and a dense light brown head. Roasted malty and slight chocolate aroma. A minor yet sharp liqourice note and a citric flavour which soon softens off to a more mellow and soft roasted malt flavour. Ends with a roasted malt flavour and only a minor bitterness.

500 ml bottle. Clear, dark red body with a dense beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and licorice. Flavor is slightly roasted malt, coffee, licorice and leather. There is a lot of flavors in this beer, but all of them are quite discrete. This makes it a quite pleasant beer, but nothing to be exited over. Just a straight forward easy to drink stout.

Bottled. Clear, dark brown beer with a nice beige head. Coffee, heavy roasting and mocha-notes in the aroma. The flavor has cocoa, mocha coffee and roasted malt. Dryish, medium body. Long coffee-like finish. A very decent beer from Vestfyen. Rating: 6-4-6-3-13-3.2. (070302)

Bottle. A more or less clear, dark, dark brown beer with a beige to tan head of moderate size. Roasted nose with some sweet licorice, dark chocolate, some coffee and a hint of smoke. The flavor follows the same pattern, a malty beer with just hints of hops. Full-bodied. Long, sweet, roasted finish with notes of tar. At only 6% ABV, it feels stronger, without alcohol being part of the experience. Nice. (090327)

500ml bottle picked up at an Irma shop in Copenhagen (bb.10.07.2007). Creamy off-white head over a dark brown body. Some lacing on the glass. Dark malty aroma. Roasted taste with chocolate malts and tartness notes. Thin to moderate palate, at least for a stout (12.01.2007).

Dark brown almost black with little quick disappearing white head. Aroma of roasted malts chocolate/coffee. Little carbonation. Ok filling body (not near thick though) Slight hoppy finish. Pleasant overall but could use a more powerfull punch in form of smoke/hops. OK
