Hazy blond with thin head. Sharp, tangy, somewhat acidic flavour. Quite fruity. A faint hint of gin is just detectable.
Earlier Rating: Brunehaut Abbaye de St Amand - 8/11/2009 Total Score: 3.4
Hazy orange colour. A bit of pepper in the aroma. Flavour is fresh and has a little sweetness at first, then some yeastiness followed by a dry, metallic aftertaste.

Bottled. Cloudy amber, no head. Mango aroma. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Sweaty and grainy, soapy and papery. Finishes with medium bitterness. Abit edgy and lacing deeper character.
Earlier Rating: 10/18/2002 Total Score: 3.1
Sampled bottled at Thembi, Maastricht.
A strong ale flavoured with genever. Pale orange and hazy with firm, creamy head. Big aroma of honey and flowers. Sweet, almost papery, nose. Loads of toffee and malt and a less sweet, lingering aromatic finish.

Orange-ochre, clear beer with good and very dense & fine off-white head, very persistent. Nose with lots of candi sugar, spicy, some citrus & toasted. Alcohol is very obvious, more than the declared 7% would suggest. Toasted taste, dry mix of citrus, herbs and alcohol. I must confess the balance impresses me no end. FInish is even more dry, to the point of MF dustiness. It conveys the impression of genever, which is pretty curious, as only the berries, not the spirit are added. Dry, alcoholwarming. 7% in ABV, but strong ale in character. As said, impressive balance - one to try.Earlier Rating: 11/2/2005 Total Score: 3.5Orange-gold clear beer (end of bottle yeasty-hazy); good yellowish head. Vanilla, herbs & citrus, bit of coriander, alcohol but not exaggerately so. Sweet all the same - Irish Cream, maybe. Soft sweet taste, but mildered by an acidity, both carbonation and citrus. Yeasty, and yeasty esters. Deep down earthy notes, forest undergrowth, mushrooms. Pretty intricately layered, in fact. Mushroom flavour gets stronger in time, getting vinous warming up. Nearly fizzy MF, creamy texture, alcoholwarming. Much better than remembered. Vinous flavours warming up might be partially oxydized, but quite pleasing - nowhere raw alcohol as jenever might make one fear.

Bottled (BBE 12/2003, so aged bottle)
Hazy orange color, decent head, some lace. Berry and woody-juniper nose: starts sweet fruity then turns a bit dry. Medium-bodied, toffeeish palate. Grassy, herbal juniper flavors mixed with sweetness. Ok brew and a bit personal but lacks excellence.

(Bottle 33 cl) Golden beer with a huge head. Based on juniper. Quite dry with only a discreet sweetness and some weak, smoked notes. 170501
Earlier Rating: 5/3/2005 Total Score: 3.6
(Bottle 33 cl) Pale blonde beer with visible sediment, that sticks to the bottom of the bottle. Fairly - but not completely - clear, with a tall, white head. Nice flavor of "grain", soft and sweetish with the hops adding more aroma than bitterness. As a style I would say this is close to a "Tripel" or "Blonde ale" 210903
Earlier Rating: 5/15/2005 Total Score: 3.4
(Bottle 33 cl) Pretty close to being pilsener golden and only moderately hazy to begin with. If you pour the huge sediment it eventually turns a murky greyish. Thick, creamy head. The addition of juniper is not really very evident in the flavour. But very fresh and soft with some hop-kick in the finish. Produced for the French wine-merchant J-Philippe Marchand. Very unusual for a 33 cl bottle to have a cork! 030305

Blond ale, nice head. Nice aroma, malt, hop, dry, a hint of cork and yeast. Full mouth, enough dry, not too much malt or hop character. The juniper isn't easy to perceive. Ordinary palate. The aroma is the only interesting feature for this beer.
