In celebration of Kirkstall Forge, the oldest forge in England, and named after the giant press that was at the heart of the operation. A full bodied yet beautifully smooth dark porter. Perfectly balanced flavours of chocolate and coffee enhanced by the mild herbal hop character. Deliciously dark.

Handpull cask at the Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Not Black but extremely dark brown, minimally translucent with a thick beige head. Sweet malty aroma with lashings of chocolate fudge syrup. Sweet taste, loads more chocolate with a delicious hop bitterness at the end of the sip. Hints of liquorice join the chocolate in the finish. Soft carbonation on top of a light body. I've had some Kirkstall beers that were fairly average but this was a cut above.

Cask-conditioned at the JDW in Leeds station 1/10/2019. Near black in colour, with reddish undertones and a frothy, off-white, head. Caramel, chocolate, a touch of coffee and some toasty malts, leading to a warming, gentle finish. Very good.

Can from Beer52, it's still fine, see picture. Cask Pint, Horse and Farrier (Otley) on 1st June 2019. Really lovely Porter, black bodied with a good blanket of tight tanned foam on top. Aroma and taste were of chocolate and coffee, semi-sweet, semi-bitter with a smoothness more akin to a Milk Stout. Nice.

Black with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a load of bitter roasted dark malts. Really intense. Well focused with no adjunct flavours.
