In celebration of Kirkstall Forge, the oldest forge in England, and named after the giant press that was at the heart of the operation. A full bodied yet beautifully smooth dark porter. Perfectly balanced flavours of chocolate and coffee enhanced by the mild herbal hop character. Deliciously dark.

Cask at CP&K. It pours darkest brown (near black) with small beige head. The nose is scortched earth, leather, roasted malt, charcoal and pepper. The taste is wood, earth, dark fruit, berry, roasted malt, toast, decent bitterness and charcoal with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A solid porter all-round.

Cask handpull at Mr Foley’s, Leeds. Delicious porter, great texture, quite thick. Almost black with a light coloured head - the perfect looking pint in my opinion. Chocolate, coffee, vanilla aroma. Most enjoyable.

Cask at the Euston Tap - 31/10/12. Dark mahogony brown in the light bordering on a lighter shade of black with a good tan head. Good dose of roast malt on the nose, barley, light coffee tones. Tastes of roast malt, milky creamy chocolate, molasses. Very smooth feel to this beer - luxurious! Medium bodied with fine carbonation. A most enjoyable stout.

Gravicask, pint, shared as the last drink at The Chorlton Beer Fest. Firm tan-coloured head over a mahogany coloured body. Semi-sweet malty nose. Gentle taste of confectionery chocolate malts, mid-sweet. Dark fruity hints beneath. Feels smooth on the swallow. Medium bodied. A good one. (Greater Manchester, 06.07.2012).
