Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Bottle shared at Blacked Out Friday. Thanks John! Pours a dark chestnut brown with almost no head. Almost 10 years old at this point. Toffee, fig and prune aromas on the nose with some nice oxidation going on. More dark fruit and fig with some stewed pear flavors. Very fun to try.

22 oz bottle (Abacus from 2011), from a trade with richiesd, huge thanks! Deep brown color, clear. Off white head (not much, little retention). Wonderful blend of aroma’s: bourbon whiskey, vanilla, oak, sweet red fruit, sticky toffee, alcohol (retronasal). Flavor is medium sweet, toffee, fruitcake. Alcoholfeel is quite strong. Body is medium. Still quite enough carbonation. Long finish, a little bit boozy, oak, toffee. Wonderful stuff.

Sample during the "Hats and Brats: The Sausage Party" event on 11/12/2011. This beer pours a hazy ruby-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of oaky vanilla, dark fruit and brown sugar. Rich body with flavors of chocolate malt, vanilla, booze-infused fruit and a little smoke. The finish is ripe fruits and dark chocolate. Good beer all around.
