For the Vintage Ale 2020, we've stayed true to our roots - sourcing all our ingredients here in the UK. The story starts with DRC®, a Double Roasted Crystal malt from East Anglia that promises malty sweetness rich in caramel and raisin. Then there's the Herefordshire hops - Jester® and Godiva- adding ripe berry fruit and tangy citrus notes to the signature marmalade flavours of our famous Fuller's yeast.

Bottle, thanks Fin! Tried just after the 2019 variant. Red amber. Nose is similar, wood and caramel. The 2020 tastes less sweet, better balance, made with 100% British woody twigs. Stronger bitterness, balances the sweetness a bit better.

500ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy copper-amber with a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of soapy lace. Sweet aroma of toasted bready malt, caramel, toffee, raisin, apricot, brown sugar, orange peel, earth, floral hops and mild alcohol. Sweet flavour of toasted bready malt, caramel, toffee, honey, brown sugar, raisin, fig, apricot, orange peel, spice, floral hops and mild alcohol in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice complexity and even better than the 2019 version. A world class ESA.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Beautiful amber colour, clean, with creamy tan head. Mild aroma of toasted bread, nuts. Full bodied, smooth, moderately sweet; the malt flavour is partially nutty, honey; there is some alcohol warmth.
Pleasant.
