Can sample at home. Clear reddish amber with beige head. Loads of brown sugar, slight vanilla, moss, juniper needles. An earthy bittreness I can't really get around. Mid sweet, nicely drinkable.

33cl can from Etre Gourmet web shop. F: thin, tan, average retention for the style. C: coppery, clear. A: malty, toffee, light woody, bit vanilla, honey touch, bit spicy, mellow fruity. T: full malty base, mellow fruity, honey, vanilla, toffee, caramel, bit herbal, decent bitterness, light warming alcohol, taste is better than taste, soft carbonation, something on the edge to be really great yet enjoyed for sure.

Can at home, from Buxton I think, 21st February 2021. Pours a clear chestnut brown. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, barrel and liquor with malts and caramel. Taste is liquor, vanilla, bourbon, wood and barrel, malts and caramel. Delicious BA barley, underrated here

Can, via the brewery online shop. Clear, amber copper colour. Fine beige head. Nose has sweet barrel notes. Vanilla. Nutty grain. Some cola. Taste is mostly sweet, with a light, burnt and boozy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel belies the ABV. Fine carbonation. Moderate bitterness to finish. Nice enough, and the vanilla notes are great, but overall, it lacks any oomph.

Can. Almost clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, quite light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, not a huge amount of mouthfeel for the style, thin really. Very little malt sweetness, just a touch of malt cream. Bitterish caramel toffee and a touch of bitterish dried fruits. A thin streak of bitter wood provides a backbone to the spicy bourbon, which has a modest fruitiness. Spicy bitterish semi dry finish. Hmm, barrel induced flavours of vanilla oak and soft coconut are in short supply here. It's a slightly hard edged affair. It goes down easy enough but I prefer my BA Barleywines to be a tad smoother and with more malt depth.

Can. Last of the series! Been a joy going through all four. Pours a clear copper to brown, small head. Aroma is intense vanilla, bourbon, wood, prune, fig, dark berries. Lots of bourbon barrel coupled with fruity barley wine notes. Medium to big body. Flavour is sweet and malty, lots of caramel, very fruity, orange marmalade, prunes, some berry notes. Lots of wood and bourbon and loads of vanilla. Finish is sweet, slightly boozy, vanilla. Lovely barley wine, really grew on me as it warmed up.
