Bottle picked up from onlinesville, split at the Hazlemere lockdown 2 tasting, 04/09/20. Pitch black with a solid tan covering. Nose is chocolate, burnt sugars, toffee, dark malts, mellow barrel fumes. Taste comprises cocoa powder, mellow roast, dark chocolate, light spice, modest barrel, dried fruits, light charr. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Not bad ... sips easy for 15% but perhaps fails to deliver in terms of depth of flavour.

Bottle. Color: Black,, mocha head. Aroma: Roasted malt, Bourbon, dark fruit notes. Taste: Roasted malt, some dark fruit like plum and rasiins, light hints of red fruit, fudge, some chocolate and mocha, hints of liquorice. Well balanced with bit boozy and sweetish Bourbon. Dry-ish finish. Over moderate to medium sweet, moderate to over moderate bitter. Full body, below average carbonation. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. A bit sticky, but not too sticky sweet. Very nicely balanced in between base beer and barrel. Nice complexity. This kind of beer is what made De Molen such a great brewery.

Bottled 07-04-20 Pitch black, creamy brown foam. Smells spicy, rye-like almost. Definitely heavy and boozy, tad thin. Taste is heavy, sharp spicyness, bourbon, smoothing into dark cacao coated coffee beans. Subtle barrel. Lovely.
