Import from the SAQ (written 9.8% ABV on label). Pours a real dark brown colour with very little highlights. Big foamy, deep beige head, with good retention and some patchy lace is left behind. Smells like a fruitcake with notes of coffee, roasted malts and molasses. Oily mouthfeel with a very slight dryness in the finish. Alcohol is very well-hidden. Sweet taste mixed with the bitterness. Hard to detect something really precise though, as it seems pretty complex overall. A little too rich for my likings though.

Bottle in the brewery during the RBESG 2013 weekend. Poured a deep mahogany with a round tan head and an oily texture. The aroma is earthy peat leading to a rich, strong bitter flavour with loads of liqourice, dark chocolate and coffee. A perfect RIS where the texture was just right and the alcohol did not dominate.

Bottled 330ml. -from Sörspecialista.hu, Budapest. Pitch black coloured, small to medium sized brown head, chocolate and cocoa powder in the nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, licorice and pretty strong alcohol presence with notes of hops in rather roasty finish. Nice but a bit too alcoholic.

(bottle, 33cl, 9.8% abv) Black colour with a brown and short foamy head. Roasty malty aroma with notes of anise, marzipan and dark chocolate, accompanied by a subtle fruity touch of cherries, plums and hints of alcohol. Sweet and roasty bitter flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Roasted and a bit burnt malt-character with notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and a subtle, almost vinous touch of dried fruits; moderately sweet and roasty bitter finish with overly present notes of alcohol. Complex but not very balanced Imp. Stout. 03.III.13
