A traditional India Pale Ale, brewed with a hugely increased hop rate for a strong, floral aroma, and a powerful, bitter taste. East Kent Goldings, Challenger, Fuggles, Pacific Gem and Pioneer hops
Downton Brewery Chimera IPA is a truly classic IPA bursting with resinous hoppy flavours that packs quite a punch - justas a traditional IPA should. Refreshing for the summer, yet strong enough to be warming in the winter;brewed with a hugely increased hop rate for a strong, floral aroma, and a powerful, bitter taste.

Bottle, 7.0%. OK grassy hop aroma. Cloudy pale yellow colour. Small stable white head. The flavour has a good malt base, subtle and clean. A good yeast note, nice and clean baking yeast. Good mouthfeel. The hop note is also there, grassy and nice.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours golden with a slight haze and a frothy white head leaving some lacework. Some hops in the nose but also a phenollic touch. Solid body, some unclean fruitiness and phenols. Rough and unsophisticated bitterness. 140810

(bottle) Hazy, pale golden colour with a short yellowish foamy layer. Slightly yeasty and juicy lemon-fruity hoppy aroma with a tinge of nutty and toasty malt. Bitter flavour with a light sugary touch, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Solid (cara-)malty base with notes of cookies and a moderately flowery and fruity hop presence; quite dry and bitter but nevertheless rounded malty finish with a good dash of aromatic hops. 30.VIII.09

Unfiltered 7,0% abv, bottle.
Super cloudy golden coloured body with almost no head at all to speak of - even when poured with force. Aroma of fresh grassy, perfumey hops, sweet grapes, VERY strong yeast and a bunch of unprocessed wort. Medium-bodied; Still tasting hops up front with some unbalanced malt, a bit on the bitter side. Aftertaste shows a light sweetness, more grassy notes, hops and the ever-present yeast. Strong grassy nuttiness on the backend and a good hop bitterness. Overall, a pretty interesting and grassy IPA, but the lack of carbonation was surely noticeable. This tasted like it could have been pulled from a cask a few minutes before me drinking it, aside from me being back on the other side of the pond, and for it being around 5 degrees centigrade. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market Stall in Borough (London), England on 13-December-2008, sampled at home in Washington on 02-March-2009.

2010-05-16, cask at Charlieโs Pub, Copenhagen, 6.8% ABV, 6-4-7-4-14=35
Hazy blond color; small foamy head, persistent. Initially there is a hint of citrusy hops, followed by light yeast and dirty water. Smooth mouthfeel; sweetish malt and toffee flavor, quite earthy; delicate, citrusy hops create a good bitterness level. Maybe a real IPA... Pleasant
2008-04-07, bottle at Cokney Pub, ร rhus, 7% ABV, 7-3-6-3-14=33
Clean deep blond color. Quite hoppy aroma, light manure in the beginning. Good caramel flavor, a bit harsh, with a prepotent hopping. Interesting.
