Inktvos is a tribute to the beer that started it all for Malcroys Brewing.
The first time we drank "Inktvis" from br. De Kromme Haring we knew we wanted a similar black i.p.a. in our line-up.

We found the recipe for Inktvis on a homebrew forum and we started to give it our own twist. It became the base for our first official and commercialized beer: Black Ipa of the Gunisson and later our WHITE cedar BLACK ipa.

Now we brewed it in it's base form and added some refined hops as a tribute to a brewery we love and really look up to: De Kromme Haring, Utrecht , Netherlands. Cheers Guys!

15/I/21 - 33cl bottle from Malcroy’s webshop, shared @ home, BB: 10/XII/21 (2021-39)

Clear dark brown to black beer, big creamy bit irregular beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lovely stuff, malty, good roast, charcoal, quite some chocolate, some liquorice. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: good roast, very bitter, liquorice, hoppy, citrus touch. Aftertaste: some grapefruit, hoppy, bit resinous, hoppy, good roast, more liquorice, bit sweet.

Thnx Kevin ! Sampled with the brewer. Cool story on how this is a tribute to Inktvis by Kromme Haring. Extra credit and respect for them for allowing Kevin to use their name, and don't be a bitch about it like many other ( bigger ) breweries would be. Haven't had them side by side, but bought extra's to do so in the future.

This one, rated by itself, pours black. Small, tanned head. Smell is full, fairly 'green', herbal hops. Taste is fairly bitter, roasty, milder hoparoma. Chocolaty. Could be a bit more hoparomatic, to make it a top notch IPA. It's already really enjoyable, easely drinkable though. One of those beers you could have everyday, which is cool given it's *currently* rare style. Lovely to see how Malcroys doesn't just brew the same thing all the sheeple want, and all the others brew.
