Gift from my brother – drunk at home. Pours a bright sparkling copper with a sizeable frothy off-white head. In the mouth it starts off fruity with malt, nuts and oranges. Later there comes a dry metallic bitterness which swamps the fruit, and reveals a carmale base. Fish is dry with both fruit and bitterness present. A good solid traditional bitter.

Bottle from Craft & Berry. Appearance - amber to copper. Slightly off-white, nicely proportioned head. Nose - caramel and digestive biscuit. Taste - sweet caramel, then dry metallic follows it in Palate - light to medium bodied, despite the low ABV, sweet middle and dry finish. Overall - ok.

Bottle from a Coop in York. Chestnut coloured with a slight, off-white, head. A malty bitter, with some toasty, sweetish, malts, hedgerow hops and a touch of fruit, before a pleasantly bitter finish. Good.

500 ml bottle, at the Boot Room, Wheldale Hotel, Castleford. ABV is 3.8%. Malts are Maris Otter, Crystal and Pale Chocolate. Hop is UK Challenger. Colour between copper and chestnut, moderate head, slightly off-white. Malty aroma, slight roast, a hint of chocolate. Malty flavour too, again slight roast and a hint of chocolate, moderate hops. Good body for a beer of this ABV. Quite enjoyable.

Appearance- dark, mahogany, a two-finger pillowy off-white head. Fairly clear despite the colour. Aroma- caramel, nutty, hints of golden syrup and/or honey, brown bread, toasted nuts, hints of dried dark fruits. Taste- malt-forward, nutty, hints of overdone fruitcake, bready, hints of milk chocolate. Mouthfeel is slightly watery. Solid stuff.

500ml bottle. Clear reddish amber with average, frothy, foamy, off-white head. Grainy and slightly toasted malty aroma, hints of dark berries. Taste is dry to bitter, initially more toasted malty, later more hoppy. Really much taste for its 3.8% abv.
