Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. As Alvinne Balthazar Vintage Recipe Serie. Aroma is spicy with dark malt, some roast, cardamom, touch of ginger, winter spices, caramel. Flavour is sweet with a fairly bitter conclusion. Medium body. Bittersweet and spicy, not generally my kind of beer, but this one's pleasant.

Fles 33cl thuis. Bruine suiker, kardemom, chocolade, redelijk zoet, wat droog, koriander, lichte gembertoets, wat noot, rood fruit, wat kruidig. (3-2-2023).

Pours dark, thick and creamy head. Smells sweet, lots of ginger, dishwasher liquid. Medium body, medium carbonation. Taste is way too much ginger for me, combined with the coriander it's a bit unpleasant. Quite heavy bitter at the end. Really not for me.

Bottle from Geers, Vintage Recipe Serie. Hazy black, huge frothy, beige head. Aroma of liquorice, 'Rucola' candy, aniseed, coriander, cardamom, biscuit, speculoos, candied plum, cough syrup, pear. Taste has sweet prune & pear in a toffee-malty, slightly dark honey-like body, some spicy biscuit with notes of liquorice & ginger, phenolic feel. Herbal hoppy finish, lots of phenolic liquorice, ginger & coriander, syrupy maltiness for balance as well as warming brandy alcohol. Medium body, syrupy texture, average carbonation. Thoroughly spiced Ale, not too shabby. (Edited 2/05/2025.)

Black with light tan head. Sweet deep roasted malts, spruce, ginger, coriander, cardemom, minty, white pepper. Sweet, roasted, herbal. Light sweet, herbal, bitter, light spicy even. Medium body and soft carb.
