CBJ Tasting. Bottle thanks to me. Semi opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Airy palate, soft and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft fluffy dark malts. Boxy caramel. Ripe fruits. Light soft finish. A decent beer with one remarkable aspect, it goes down easy for a brew just shy of 20%

Bottle shared at CBJ - cheers! Pours deep amber with a creamy, light tan head. Medium to big sweet flavour, light oxidation, some stewed apples, light roast. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, boozy, more apples, earth. So so.

2020 Ed. Cream to dark beige head, slowly retreating over opaque, reddish dark brown... beer? Wood, chestnut, booze, spirit; some chocolate. Raisins on rum or other booze; black, if sweetened chocolate; syrup - in a decent way. Chocolatebar with raisins and alcohol; eggnog. Fiery alcoholheat. Aftertaste gives a strange - if not unpleasant - bitterness. Full bodied, viscous. The ultime punch. True to tell, it is much better than I feared. Still, you might not like the syrup. Thanks to Stef!

A not inexpensive acquisition of a 33 cl bottle from Belgian Happiness. But at the high abv, I had to try it. And this coming from a Belgian style brew, quite unique. In honor, I have my Trappistes Rochefort glass prepared for this tasting. The pour is an inviting dark caramel brown, much like that of a Struise Pannepot, with a minimal, but steadily recharged, skim of light tan foam. I get a nose of dark plums, dark bread and hard candy. And now, ultimately, I lift the glass for a drink. And my first comment is: Wow. It’s like a supercharged quad running on nox. Stewed figs, dark cherries, whole grain bread, raisins, perhaps a touch of chocolate, red licorice, malt and toffee. I am a bit stunned thinking the alcohol would overwhelm. While the booziness is obvious, it lurks in the background. For me, it all works. White Pony can push the envelope and this time they did in the right direction. No quintupel style as yet, quadrupel will have to do. This is high on that list.
