(Can, 0.33 l, at Arde, 20220305) The beer poured nearly black and almost clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had wood, vanilla, alcohols and malts. Palate was medium bodied and medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, vanilla, wood, alcohols, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, boozy and bitter. A too sweet and too boozy brew.

Can at Ardes residence, Helsinki. Color is very dark brown with small head. Aromas and flavors: Some ripe fruits, raisins, alcoholic barrel elements... pretty weak actually.

33cl can. Tasting at Ardes. Poured dark brown in color. Toffee all over, very sweet not much barrel showing. Boozy. Not working for me.

Certains brasseurs nous prennent pour des gogos. Une alliance entre stout et quadruple, j'étais dubitatif de base. Ce ne sont pas des styles complémentaires. Mais brouiller en plus l'ensemble avec un vieillissement en fût de cognac et armagnac, cela me fait plutôt pencher pour l'hypothèse d'un brassin pas réussi (voire de 2) que l'on a tenté de retravailler pour ne pas le jeter. Le résultat est d'un confus sans nom, sur des alliances incompréhensibles peu harmonieuses. Le visuel est sur un brun foncé quasiment sans mousse. Le nez est sur le caramel, raisin, figue, un léger chocolat avec cognac et armagnac. La quadruple ressort nettement par rapport au stout. Mais l'addition de tous ces arômes ne fonctionne pas réellement. A l'attaque, nous retrouvons ce coktail avec des épices en complément. Les arômes sont pleins et intenses avec un vieillissement en fût bien opéré, l'alcool à 11% étant bien intégré et chaleureux. Petit bémol sur le sucre cependant trop poussé et ressortant davantage sur le final. J'ai été curieux, et j'en ai été puni. Quel est le plus idiot, le brasseur qui commercialise ou l'amateur qui achète?

Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Black. Dark fruits, some chocolate, acetaldehyde (apple), some wood, sweet, caramel, alcohol.

Can shared thanks to Thijs. Very dark brown with creamy dark beige head. Apple, sugary malts, armagnac, pommeau, marzipan, vanilla, soft chocolate, figs. Very sweet, medium bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. A bit too much apple and really sweet, but an interesting and tasty beer.

Can, 11%. Distinct vanilla aroma. Black colour. Small tan head. The flavour has a distinct vanilla note and a lot of sugar. Very sugary. Spicy finish.

Pricey for a 330 ml Dutch brewery can. Dark brown coloured. Nose is cognac, alcoholic. Flavour is slight roasted malts, cognac, booze, fairly sweet. A bit thin and boozy overall.
