I got this on sale awhile ago and knew I just had to pair it with some apple pie! Moon Dog In The Crumble the Mighty Crumble Apple Crumble Desser Sour Ale 5.8% Deep Rudy amber with virtually no head and this medium bodied brew has floaters (from the apple purée?) so it’s not the most attractive looking brew especially up close. It starts with sour apple and is tart then gives you sweet apple pie crust notes. It finished quite dry, that dryness cuts through my apple pie’s sweetness and accentuates the sweet crust. A fun pairing.

330ml can from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky light brown colour with little life. The aroma is biscuit dough and apples. It kinda dominates. The flavour is moderate sweet and sour, with a tart apple, sweet sugary pastry, palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. Looks poor and doesn’t taste any better.

Pours amber, fading head.Flavours include apple vanilla and cinnamon. Tempting!Flavours pretty much match apple crumble. Lots of baked apples, cinnamon, biscuity notes, golden syrup. A hint of acidity in the finish, reminiscent of granny smiths.

(Can) Hazy amber brown with short-lived white head. Interesting aroma - tart apples, spice, alcohol, damp cardboard. Light body with lively fine carbonation. Tastes like its name. There’s a nice somewhat tart apple flavour and cinnamon in the start. There’s some doughy pastry flavours and toffee hints in the mid-palate, and some creamy vanilla hints in the finish. Very clever, and very drinkable.

Can. Amber. Lovely, restrained cinnamon and apple nose. Creamy mouthfeel but with some apple crispness. Nails the brief perfectly in terms mimicing an apple crumble dessert. Great choice as doesn't require loads of sweetness. The sourness is subtle but palate cleansing. Brilliant work.
