Lovely Strong Bitter. Only half a pint as I had already had a gin and tonic and a pint of mild and was meeting friends for dinner.

Cask at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A mostly clear orange amber coloured pour with a a lasting beige head. Aroma is semi sweet, nutty boozy cake, dried fruit, apple, honey. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty malts, dried fruits, apple, brown sugars, rounded, some alcohol. Palate is semi sweet, lowish carbonation. Not bad. ,

Creamy off white head on a reddish brown coloured body. Minimal malt & berry aroma. Medium to full, smooth creamy & soft. Red berry, malt, spiced, raisin & toffee tastes with a bitter finish. Nice pint.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol, 27 September 2022. Amber in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Aroma of tangerines and red berries, with some leafy hoppiness. Flavour was sweet, with strawberries and crystallised oranges, ripe malts, and some caramel, before a warming finish. Very drinkable for the ABV.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Aroma is malty with a hint of booze. Dark amber. Thin bubbly translucent white head. Light bitter. Jammy sour edge. And a big dose of sugariness. Malty core. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat-soft carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable if a tad lightweight.

Cask at Brunswick, Crewe (not listed on RateBeer). Been drinking this for years, but not rated before. Pours yellowy brown (slightly paler than “bitter brown”) with a small white head and good lacing. Nose is just a mix of malts – nothing else. Malts again in the mouth, along with caramel and hints of coffee and nuts. Finish is sweet and malty. Very drinkable for its strength. I like this a lot.

Handpull cask at Sir Robert Peel (JDW), Bury. Golden brown, clear with a large tight beige head. Metallic, sulphurous aroma with a bit of orchard fruit. Taste is surprisingly sweet considering the aroma, and surprisingly nice. Lovely notes of pear drop and banana ride the wave of a more astringent character which increases to the finish. Soft carbonation, medium to full body. Not really my cup of tea but certainly not bad.
