With this special brew, Batch One, we dared to experiment with combining our usual devotion to a solid malt profile with the addition of American aroma hops. Batch One is an American-inspired Ale characterized by its vast, full body and generous use of hops. In the glass, it has a reddish-brown colour with a coppery glow, and a beige-coloured head leaves a nice lacing behind. For this brew we have chosen to only use the noble Simcoe hop, both for boiling and the following dry-hopping. The hops give the beer its fresh citrus-like character and impart a solid bitterness to balance the sweet caramel malt.

(Bottle) Dark amber colour with frothy, lasting, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with dried fruit, orange peel, grapefruit and lots of piny, resiny hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of citrus, dried fruit, orange peel and raspberries on a solid, sweetish malt foundation with lots of resiny, piny hops in a long, bitter finish. The lasting bitterness stays balanced throughout, mingling well with alcohol and malt sweetness. Medium to full body, chewy mouthfeel. Tasty beer, very well balanced.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Unclear, brown pour with a beige head. Balanced, maybe a bit on the hoppy side, aroma with a good deal of fruits, as well as hops, pine and resin. Much the same in the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel. Yet another nice beer from Amager. (070512)
