Part of my 2013 backlog, and brought back from oz by family. Colour is black with a small head. Aroma has chocolate, fruit, and deep caramel. The taste has these too with roasted malt.

Dark brown coloured body with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, earth and a touch of chocolate. Medium-bodied; Not a strong roastiness at all with a little odd earth and caramel taste followed by a vegetable or off-tasting flavour soon afterwards. Aftertaste shows mostly malt with a little sweetness and a very odd herbal note toward the end. Overall, not such a great beer, but not horrible when sampled along with food. I sampled this 33 cL bottle sampled at a local pizza restaurant in Port Campbell (Great Ocean Road), Victoria, Australia on 01-January-2010.

From a 330ml bottle on 6/6/2010. Pours extremely dark with almost no head. Aroma is roasted malt, berries with a bit of coffee, caramel and toffee. In the mouth, its both tart and sweet, quite fruity (raisins) and malty, with some noticeable warming alcohol and decent bitterness at the finish. A solid porter.

Pours black with a small head.Rich aroma of dark chocolate, raisins, molasses, tar and cinnamon. Very complex, very rich!Roasty flavours with not much of the aforementioned complexity. Some cocoa shows. Still, nice enough and manages to be quite rich.Nice rich body with low carbonation.

Very dark brown, tan head faded to nothing quickly. Roasted and caramel malt, vanilla, prunes. Taste is sweet with some citric sourness and (heh) umami - I see others have mentioned soy sauce. Alcohol sticks out a bit. Not as inviting as porters usually are - perhaps that’s my fault for drinking it on a hot night, but for some reason I usually like mid-strength porters and stouts pretty well in the heat. [score 2.5] This time 10C: much colder than I’d normally drink a porter, but there are a few Australians in this style that seem better colder. And so is this: there’s a little bit of roasted bitterness early that lends some presence and cuts the sweetness a bit. Some of the aroma disappears in return.
