Keg, third at Cafe Beermoth. Shared with Finn. Near black in the glass, fawn-coloured head, rich lacing. Doughy malts and some berry skins on the nose. Comprehensive taste character including stewed fruits, semi-tart berries, ripe fruits, and hints of spices. Malt-berry ending, long loved, noticeable alcohol. Quite heavy to drink. Some slow sipper qualities. (Manchester 25.01.2020).

Can split at the Tilt SHN meet up thanks to Gary Old, Bingohame, 07/12/19. Murky mahogany brown with a decent beige cap that veers to the edge of the glass. Nose is bitter sweet malts, spice, dark fruit rinds, clove, cinnamon. Taste comprises fruit cake, punchy fruit esters, light spice balance, tangy red berries, stale brown bread, stewed fruits, dark malts, cinnamon bark. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, light kiss of a booze amidst a tarte fruit wash up. Decent.

Can, picked up at the brewery. Also on tap at the brewery at the end of a lengthy session, after which I got off a bus miles from home, misplaced my wallet, and got well in the missus’ bad books. Anyway. Pours clear, deep ruby red. Fine beige head. Nose has ripe plum and prune. Oak. Red wine cork. Hint of cracknel caramel. Some damson jam. Cinnamon and ginger biscuit malts. Lots happening here. Taste is super sweet, first off, with a dusty, vinous, oaky bitterness. Smooth on the palate. Belies the ABV admirably. Soft carbonation. Any tartness comes through at the end. Sticky sweetness on the lips throughout. Mad as a badger.
