A Bavarian black beer with distinctive carmel malt sweetness and rich creamy trademark head. Flavorful, yet smooth; it is very drinkable!

Pours very dark copper, ruby highlights, with a quickly fading head.Nose shows dark chocolate, lots of caramel and light roasted malt. Quite sweet, that caramel and an enticing bready note work wonders.Similar flavours though not as complex: roasted barley, sweet caramel approaching honey. Mild roasty bitterness accompanies a dry finish.Carbonation is ridiculously high.Aroma is the strong point of this beer, it’s really let down in other areas. The carbonation problem is a real worry.

Short-lived beige head, over deep ruby-brown beer. Rich, fruity-sweet nose, molasses, caramel, dried black prunes. Watered-down caramel with molasses; watery chocolate drink, artificial fruitiness. Pretty thin body, with syrup slickness watered-down. Waste of malts, waste of sugar, waste of glass. Ouch.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Deep brown colour, large and creamy beige head. Fruity-spicy nose. Malty background with caramel, spices, blackcurrant and a shy hoppy touch. The combination of blackcurrant and herbs is quite fascinating. An interesting interpretation of the style.

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, mahogany colour with a beige and dense medium-sized foamy head. Sweet and berry-fruity aroma with notes of toasted malt, caramel and spicy hops. Sweet-bitter flavour with a tinge of sourness, light to medium bodied with a slightly fizzy carbonation. Moderately roasted malt character with notes of caramel, liquorice and distinctive berry-fruity notes; dry and roasty, also quite hoppy finish. 23.II.10

This shwarzbier poured a deep black colour with a quickly lived tan coloured head. To the nose there are scents of caramel, sweet malts and brown sugar. First swig was heavy flavoured but yet slightly watery for a shwarz. Flavours of molassas, malt and caramel most prodominent. Finish is thick and almot oily with a flavour of sweet malts lingering.
