Not quite a stout but definitely no lightweight, Cutthroat Porter is smooth and robust. Inspired by the classic London porters, the brewery uses dark roasted malts to create a deep, rich color and flavor that hint at chocolate and coffee. The beer was named Cutthroat Porter as a tribute to the Colorado state fish – with its own rich heritage and unmistakable dark coloring.

Draft at the brewery, 11/25/15. Dark brown in color with a creamy beige-tan head. Roasted malts dominate the aroma and flavor. Chocolate and coffee. Lightly sweet, mostly roasted flavor. Pretty nice overall mouthfeel. Good amount of flavor packed into a sessionable porter.

12 ounce bottle poured and split. Pours a color black with a foam ring head. Definitely an english porter here. Huge roasted aroma and flavor. Quite a bitter side, opposed to my usual porter, but very tasty. Bitter roast with a rich chocolate background. Good lunch beer.
