(355ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours clear very dark brown with a big head of fine dark tan head and some lace. Aroma is nice roasty malt with some dark caramel and molasses, prune and raisin type dark fruit, charred grain, light acidity/umami and some light roast coffee. Flavour is semi-sweet dark malt up front with caramel, cola, grape juice, some charred and lightly to moderately acidic roast, sweetened coffee, earth. Finish is quite dry and above moderately bitter, coffee, burnt grain, ash, black pepper. Light to medium body, slick, fairly low carbonation. Very solid no-frills roast-driven porter, sweetish but definitely not cloying with its bitter finish. Needed a pastel de nata alongside, for Dr. Horacio!
