Mahogany color, with creamy head. Some aroma of caramel, and light apples. Good caramel flavor, dry mouthfeel, with a light spicy touch, and correct bitterness. Pleasant.

(473mL can from LCBO) Poured cool, a clear red-brown with an inch of rocky tan head. Aroma of hops, pine with a bit of grapefruit rind, and faint toffee malt peeking through. Flavour again hops-forward, initially a bit of juicy citrus cutting the toffee malt, followed up by grass and resiny pine drying the beer out and finishing with an earthy note. Quite bitter overall and finishes completely try with a bit of metallic tang. Mouthfeel is fairly light, soda-pop carbonation. A good hopped darker ’pale’ ale.

Sample from can at the Strange Brew Tasting on 02/18/2012. Reddish-brown in color with a medium fluffy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Floral hops and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with flavors of grassy and herbal hops, grainy malt and a bit of fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Nice solid head and a decent dark brown, near-black body. Lots of fresh hops on the nose, zero-minute I do believe, making this one a good smell for shure. Flavour is more hops, very floral in that respect, with a sharp citrusy hop finish. Notice the hops yet? I’d prefer a little bit more malt in the mix, it’s lacking complexity but darned drinkable to be ensured opun. Je pense.

Canette 473ml. De couleur ambrée-brune et claire. Nez malté de caramel aux notes rôties, de houblon citrique, moyennement floral ainsi qu’aux notes herbeuses et résineuses, moyen de biscuits avec des notes de toffee et d’agrumes et des traces de réglisse noire. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-bas et une texture très légèrement crémeuse. Léger goût fruité (agrumes) accompagné d’une moyenne amertume de houblon citrique (pamplemousse) et légèrement floral (une amertume présente en arrière-goût toute la gorgée) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de caramel toffee aux notes rôties avec un moyen goût biscuits terreux. Par la suite, l’amertume de houblon revient en force jusqu’en finale en étant plus asséchante, herbeuse (foin mouillé et notes de feuilles de thé) et aux petites notes résineuses. Post-goût long et un peu sec, moyennement amer de houblon citrique, herbeux, légèrement floral et aux traces résineuses avec un léger goût fruité (zest d’agrumes) et des notes terreuses.

473ml can shared with friends who’s just been to Canada. Thin white head. Clear amber pour. Nice and hoppy finish. Nice beer!

Originally rated August 2009. Oh yeah... the brew of the devil. The big 666 on the can is quite eye-catching. On the back of the can, says "The devil made me brew it !"... nice. Pours a copper colour with a nice creamy off-white head that has decent retention and lacing all-over. Reminds me a lot of the Pump House red ale I just had with it’s look, taste and smell. The aroma is fruity, with some dark malt, burnt wood and brown sugar. Medium mouthfeel with not much carbonation. Quite a nice full taste with some roasted malt, coffee, nuts, dark fruits, caramel and great hop in the finish. Very well-blended and hope they keep this one. A funky project that gave a great result !

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks David C. Reddish amber color. Resinous hops aroma. A rather dry flavor with pine needles, resin notes and some light background caramelly sweetness. Medium-bodied.

At a tasting, thanks David, smallish head, dark orange to light red colour, muted aroma, but some jam, caramel and grapefruit coming through. pleasant grapefruity bitterness which is not to strong. Alittle boring.
