Dark brown colour, near black. Lean, the body is rather weak when compared to expectations; some cacao, simple malt, and light sourness, in aroma and flavour, typical of many BA beers from Quebec, it's not too disturbing, but it's not right.
It's an ok beer.

Poured from 355mL can. Black with small tan head. Light bourbon, dark dried fruit, touch of roast, hint of Quebec barrel tartness.

335 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head. Aromas of flat bourbon, dark fruit, licorice, and bready roasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional dry dark chocolate and woody alcohol.

355mL bottle, pours jet black with a small light brown head. Nose brings out plenty of bourbon, some wood varnish, and a bit of dried dark fruits. Flavour reveals plenty of bourbon, light dark dried fruits, a smidgeon of tartness, and alcohol. As with so many BA porters/stouts in Quebec, there's a touch of tartness here that makes me wonder what the hell is going on in Quebec with barrel aging -- why the tartness for such a beer? Doesn't exactly seem infected, but it also doesn't seem on the mark. As it warms, the bourbon becomes more prominent and the tartness subdues. Good.

12oz (thx, Brian C.!) @ home. Appearance: very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: burnt bourbon barrel, dark fruits, roasted malts. Taste: along the same lines, roasty. Not a very big fan of the barrel work here as some smoky and burnt notes are coming making the beer harsh and non-elegant. Overall: not bad, but BBA imperial stout from this series was much better IMO.

(355ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours black with no real head, just a few stray tan bubbles and a ring. Aroma of anise/salt licorice, burnt grains, dark fruit, kind of musty wood, bourbon is restrained but clearly present with oaky vanillin and caramel. Flavour is fairly sweet with milk chocolate, toasted nuts, light caramel, touch of raisiny fruitiness, almost peanut-type salty savoury note, some burnt wood, bourbon is soft and vanilla inflected without much heat, ashy char and roast grains into the finish, light licorice as well. Light to medium oily slick body, very soft carbonation. Solid Baltic porter, doesn't drink just like a stout unlike some attempts at it. Enoyable to sip.
