Tap at Jeanette & les Cycleux. Clear dark golden going into copper with off white head. Caramel, light cake and Christmas bread, raisins, dried apple and some cardboard. Medium sweet with light chemical bitter sweetness a bit like artificial sweeteners. Under medium bodied. Not very good as far as French Christmas beers go.

*Old rating. Best before 09/2012. Sweetish sugary beginning. Fresh but thin with an artificial undertone. Malty sweetish cramelly aftertaste.

This had a nice dried fruit flavor, reminiscent of prunes. Had on tap at a small bar in Metz, France. Overall nice aroma and taste, with some mild sweetness.

Bottle from Carrefour St. Denis. Copper colour, small white head. Odd sickly fakeish aroma in the middle of vegetables. Dominated by the aroma that unfortunately turns to meat. Dry as shit. Maltiness, carbonation bite underneath. Very very herbal light. This is crap.

Clear amber with a white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, light malty and fruity. Flavor is rather sweet and moderate bitter. The finish is light acidic, bitter and fresh. 251209

Bottle looks very simple, but not bad. Beer in the glass dark, not black, small head. Starts strong a little bit moldy, then more and more spicy, also modest dry. Finish a little bit metallically, but still very drinkable. Okay.

Bottle from a Casino shop in rue Turbigo, Paris
Amber color. Metallic aroma. Sweetish flavor, very light caramel, touch of vegetables. Correct bitterness. Flawed. Quite bad experience.

Very attractive pour, nice dark amber, good bubbling, good layer of head on top. Aroma is malts, caramel, nuts, alcohol. Taste is smoother than I expected, some syrupiness at the end, nuttiness comes through and sweetness as well. A good example of a Christmas beer that’s not too overpowering.

50 cl bottle @ Fakta. Pours cloudy amber with a small off white head and lacings. Sweet metallic and fruity nose. Very sweet flavor with a bit of caramel. Smooth and thin to medium palate. Would not drink again!

Bottle, 6%. Very subtle spicy aroma with a little orange peel. Clear dark amber colour. Small stable off-white head. The flavour is slightly sweet with a bit of the same spice and orange flavour as the aroma. Good with christmassy food.
