Pours a dark brown with garnet on the edges and a thin ring of beige on top. Rich bready toasty caramel maltiness with bits of earth and ethanol to counter. Nice sipper.

Enjoyed at the brewpub. Pours a dark copper-brown colour. Plastic nose with light malt. No burning mouthfeel, just a mild warming. Slightly bitter taste with a little more fruit notes than the chemical feel. Not really well-balanced and less sweet than most wee heavy brews I have had. Not really enjoying the weird feel. Does get a little better with time, but still.

Dégustée en fût sur place. De couleur ambrée assez foncée et très légèrement voilée. Nez de caramel, léger de malt sucré, légèrement rôti et aux petites notes terreuses, légèrement boisé avec des notes d’alcool et de houblon herbeux ainsi qu’avec quelques traces fruitées (cerises). Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-doux ainsi qu’une texture très légèrement liquoreuse. Léger goût fruité (léger d’agrumes et de cerises) avec des traces de sucre brun lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de grains de malt sucrés avec des notes de pain et quelques traces de biscuits puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux aux notes florales avec des notes d’alcool ainsi qu’un léger résiduel de malt sucré. From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden deep orange to brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted breadish malty, slight toffee note. Sweet malty, breadish and caramelish. Bitter and dark malty finish.

A dark reddish copper ale with a thin white head. Light fruity esters in aroma, with smooth caramel. In mouth, vinous notes with cobwebs, sweet caramel and treacle, musty, like an aged version. Not bad but not stellar. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 11 2010.
