on tap at The Burger Bar. Jet black pour, with a big rocky beige head. Amazing roasted malt aroma, touches of vanilla, wood, and some coffee. Decent mouthfeel, and a solid carbonation. the flavor was super satisfying. Roasty, burnt coffee, and some great vanilla finish. what a great porter, please bottle this!

Tap at brewpub. Opaque colour, small beige head. Light toasted malts in the nose. Light-bodied. Toasted, a bit coffeish, some sweetness. Simple and a bit watery.

Strong cherry. Well made beer, not a ton of body, but there's not a lot to complain about with one. C'est what

Can from the brewery. Dark mahogany under a fluffy two finger lingering khaki head. Nose of chocolate and coffee with a touch of dark fruit. Light sweet molasses with a light+ chocolate bitterness. Mouth is medium- and creamy with average carbonation. Well balanced porter. 8+/4+/8-/4-/15

Doing things out of order. Just finished a Harry Porter curse of the Bourbon Vanilla Bean (or that is at least how I saw it.) Now to the original. Pours equally as dark as the bean version, but with a tan head that sticks around in a sheet. Nose is full of malts roasted with a little ash, and quite a bit of chocolate sweetness. (Here is hoping it’s not to like it’s overly sweet Vanilla version.) The taste ... much nicer. Not overly sweet. Lots of roasted malts, with some of that ashy-ness. Sweet, but not excessively so, with a good load of chocolate, finishing with a little hop bitterness. Not bad. More proof that sequels are never as good as the original.

(Project X bottle from the brewery) From what I can see (consumed by candlelight the night of the great Toronto flood), pours an extremely dark brown with a head of tan foam, light lace. Aroma heavy on roast, dark chocolate, bitter, grassy hops, a little coffee and smoke. Flavour follows the aroma, toffee malts underlie what is a roast/chocolate/coffee porter body with a reasonable helping of herbal hops, light dried fruit and some smokiness. Finishes on the dry side with roast, smoke, some hops bitterness, a little thin. Body is fairly light, over-carbed, no booze. This is a pretty good porter, but I’m coming to the conclusion that "ordinary" porters are just not quite my thing. The GL Robust Porter blows this into the weeds.

Strong bitter hops, seems almost too much of a presence for a porter, and some bitter coffee. Decent but my mistake was drinking it right after an imperial stout and a dipa. Pours black, decent carbonation. On tap at Burger Bar.
