On tap at the brewpub. Hazy dark brown pour, small off white head. Aroma of burnt sugar, sweet malt, cereal, toffee, vanilla and bourbon, and some booze. Intense warmng from the alcohol, thick chewy mouthfeel, more toffee, and even a slight coffee in the lingering chewy finish. The bourbon is getting more subtle near the end, and some more vanilla shines through. Nice balance between the barrel and the malts.

Draft: Poured a dark deep brown color ale with a light off-white head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of bourbon and deep caramelized sugar is quite intense. Taste is dominated by loads of bourbon notes with some alcohol coming through with notes of caramelized malt and toffee. Body is quite full with well rounded creamy notes from the barrel-aging. Interesting and quite intense though maybe a bit too much bourbon coming out as well as some alcohol notes.

A reddish dark copper ale with a thin creamy dark brown head. In aroma, good woody bourbon barrel, with molasses, grapes, woodchips, very nice. In mouth, a smoothed version of the triple bock with less cloying sweetness, bourbon wood notes, vanilla beans, resinous notes, warm alcohol in finale. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 4 2011.
