Brewed with respect for the brewing traditions of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, this Vivat Blonde is a “Bière de Garde” beer. This means that it has a longer maturation time than a "classic" beer between brewing and sale. Vivat Blonde is brewed exclusively with pure barley malt and is brewed the old-fashioned way, with skimming of hop flowers carried out by hand and in an open fermentation tank. EBC 13.

Got a feisty bottle, foamed up over the rim once the cap was off but that’s all right. It poured okay, semi-foggy yellow and plenty of head, but it disappeared rather quick. The aroma is a weird set of mud and barley, and rotten grape. Taste is a mix of grape juice, non-alcoholic beer, and malts. I think this thing wants to be a lambic, but fails miserably at it. Not a fan.

Bottled. An amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of fruit, dusty hops, and some malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of metal, caramel, malt, and bread, leading to a dry metallic finish.

18th May 2008. Very frothy blond beer but carbonation is low! Soft with some mild orange fruit and even milder honey. Watery - which detracts greatly.

Bottled (BB 11/2008). Hazy orange color, small white head. Light flowery aroma of peach and mango, some grainy-earthy notes. Soapy-fruity, a bit alcoholic flavor. Peppery hoppy finish. I agree with harrisoni, this is not a biere de garde but more like a Belgian tripel.
