Brewed with respect for the brewing traditions of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, this Vivat Blonde is a “Bière de Garde” beer. This means that it has a longer maturation time than a "classic" beer between brewing and sale. Vivat Blonde is brewed exclusively with pure barley malt and is brewed the old-fashioned way, with skimming of hop flowers carried out by hand and in an open fermentation tank. EBC 13.

Bottled (Thanks Bov!). Golden colour with particles floating around. Aroma is fruity, hoppy and quite earthy. Flavour is much the same with alcohol and some soap too. Zesty and earthy finish.

Bottle picked up in Lille Carrefour 30-07-07.Poured amber in colour, I actually drank this without really taking much notice that is precisely how much it interested me, I recall it being a bit sweet but beyond that it made no further impression on me at all.

Cask handpull at the The Welkin (JDW), Liverpool. The guy behind the bar at least had the good grace to be baffled by this beer. Gold colour with thin off white head. French yeast aroma. Mix of tangerine and other citrus fruits. Quite juicy in mouth. Has all the hallmarks of a light blond biere de garde. Tangerine dry zest on finish is very pronounced.

Bottled(330ml). -Hazy golden coloured with small head. Malty and fruity aroma with some strange flowery and grassy notes. Slight acidic finish.

33cl bottle from Carrefour, Calais. Clear amber colour with a white head. Nice aroma of golden syrup and hop. Tangerine citrus flavour runs throughout the beer. Bit of candy sugar taste in mouth. I like it. Enough tangerine and hop to give it depth, flavour and complexity. Bit like a Belgian tripel.

Bottled. Amber beer with a strong head, strong and slightly fruity aroma and a quite tame blonde Belgian beer style flavour. Overall a reasonable beer.

Bottled (2005) Flat golden appearance. Aroma of apple and popcorn. Sweet and malty with rounded mouthfeel and some fresh aromatic hops. Low bitterness. (3/1/6/3/10)

Re-rate 2009. The apple and pop-corn is not here anymore. Isntead I get mustard, paprika and jelly. This time it’s alive with carbonation and feels in much better shape.
