Deep mahogany with a large frothy mocha coloured head that fades slowly and leaves patchy lace. Nose of roasted malts, bread, yeast and some herbal hops. A light sweet brown sugar under a moderately bitter chocolate with some tart citrus and peppery spice. Medium- oily body with quite prickly carbonation and a rather short finish. The spicy Saison characteristics take a back seat to the malt.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light tart notes and chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by dry roasted malt notes with bitter black chocolate notes offset by some light tart notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but I am not sure I enjoy the mix of saison and stout that much.
