Deep bronze in colour, brilliant in clarity – once carbonated it should have a tight slightly off white head. Mellow smoked malt aroma presents first followed by a hint of acidity from the apple juice. Again the smoke is the primary characteristic with support from a caramel malt body. The apple juice and bitterness lead to a crisp, moreish finish. Overall this is the most quaffable Applewood smoked India amber apple ale on the market today.

Middie on tap at The Royal Albert, Sydney. 6.8%. Hazy amber beer with thin white head and tiny tiny bubbles. Laces well. Nose is toffee apple. Zingy, earthy and bitter at first. Smoky malt takes over leading to a juicy lasting apple finish. Really well balanced and dangerously drinkable.

On tap at the brewery. Pours bright orange brown. Apple, smokey BBQ pork, orange peel, lemon juice, charcoal, lots of caramel syrup stuff. Big full body. I'm not usually a smoked beer fan but this is sensational.
