31/3/2022. Bottle courtesy of reidyboy, cheers. Pours deep black with a frothy tan coloured head. Distinct Sorachi Ace hop aroma complemented nicely by the more subtle Sabro. Citrus, leafy, woody notes, pine, chocolate, cheese, wax, coconut and ash. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Oily, average carbonation. Need to like Sorachi to enjoy this, made for an unusual but enjoyable stout.

Straddles the border between a stout and a black IPA. Pours near black with a frothy tan head, and a fruit cocktail aroma on top of roasted malt and a hint of coconut. Hop bitterness kicks things off in the flavour, with citrus notes and roasted coffee grounds well balanced, a touch of liquorice poking its head in, before a long dry finish

Bottle from RAD. Appearance - jet black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - molasses, smoke and dark chocolate. Taste - smoky molasses going into liquorice. Still some dark chocolate in the background. Palate - close to full bodied. The texture is creamy and the finish has lovely roasty bitterness. Overall - a lovely stout.

500ml bottle from Woodfield Stores. Pours pitch black with a nice frothy tan head. Lovely aroma that sees the sorachi and sabro shine nicely without appearing too dominant or coconutty, some ashy pine. Body is perhaps thinner than expected, but some admirable roast accompanies the hoppy sorachi. Presented nicely. Very good and on a par with Kernel's finest. My kind of CDA.
