I remember the pride and excitement of releasing our first single when I was in a band back in the 90s. I get the same feeling now with each limited edition release of our bottled Perry. The thing is that Perry pears are really hard to come by. The Blakeney Red and Conference beauties we’ve been lucky enough to use are from a top-secret – and very historic – Herefordshire perry orchard.

500ml bottle from Orchard Explorers Club. Pale yellow gold colour, white foamy head that rapidly dissipates away and aroma of perry pear, some mucky notes. Taste is sweetish, fruity pear, fleshy, skin and core, tangy, acidic with a light tannic note. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry fruity pear finish. Nicely drinkable.

500ml bottle from Waitrose, shared with Soph at our cottage in Pontypool. Clear greenish gold. Good fruity perry pear nose. Clean, sweet with interesting perry pear fruit, green apple skins, stalk with a gentle acidity. Nice blend, very decent.
