Sabro is a hop we’ve been on the periphery of, but haven’t had the chance to brew with just yet. The newest hype hop finally landed in our cold store just as we were arranging a collaboration with our friends at Chamonix-based Big Mountain Brewing Co, and it seemed as if it were written in the stars to use this hop for the occasion. Paired up with a Polly’s stalwart in Citra, and named for Scott’s truly awful George Takei impression, this beer is absolutely massive on pineapple, coconut, and creamy tropical fruit flavours.

Draft. An unclear golden beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes fo citrus fruits, pine needles, spices, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, spices, citrus fruits, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Toms of green hop oil up front, not so heavy on the coconut, one of the better sabro beers I’ve tried, settles a bit as it opens

Can at home, from onlinesville can't recall, 09/07/20. Murky light orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is raw pineapple, lime leaf, grass, soft malts, mango, melon, light coconut shavings. Taste comprises juicy citric pith, mixed tropical fruits, Um Bongo splash, lime twist, trace of pina colada, peach, light stoned fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with juicy Sabro laden hoppage. Solid pale.

440ml can after a 50 mile XC ride. Mega thanks to Steve for gifting me this in my coronavirus survival kit! Unclear orangey yellow appearance, moderate white head. Aroma has prominent milky coconut from the sabro hop. Taste follows through with light lychee shades alongside the defined coconut presence. Liking Sabro so far, but like Sorachi I fear I may tire of it before the year is out.

Can from Polly's Brew Co online shop. A milky/hazy yellow coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Coconut, pineapple, tropical/stone fruit aroma and taste. Pleasant Sabro hop action in this, quite similar to Sorachi. Easy drinking session pale ale.
