On keg at Six Degrees North Edinburgh. Appearance - opaque black with an attractive fawn head. Nose - dark chocolate, hint of coffee. No ''India'' note yet. Taste - creamy chocolate and coffee. Cocoa more accurately. Palate - creamy and medium to full bodied with a long elegant finish. Overall - very nice but none of the expected India notes in there.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at the brewery. Pours motor oil black with a dense, lasting creamy beige head. Wow, this beer is phenomenal. Loads of well roasted malts, rich baking cocoa, mellow ashy bitterness, scorched earth, some freshly brewed black coffee. Some torched pine, moderate sweetness. Medium to full bodied, thick and creamy, with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more hearty cocoa and coffee, ash, leather, accents of citrus rind and pine. Nice bitter aftertaste. Just incredible stuff. More depth and complexity than anything I've had recently. And the texture and balance are essentially perfect. Nothing else to say here, really. Superb.
