Bramble Barrel is an American sour ale inspired by the Gin Bramble cocktail. This beer was brewed with a pound and a half per gallon of local blackberries and aged in NC made Cardinal Gin barrels, which contribute the essence of spearmint. Finished with fresh lemon zest, this sour is best served unshaken and unstirred. Cheers.

500 ml bottle, thank you Brian for sharing! Batch 781 bottled on 1/26/16. Beautiful purple red color with bubbley white head around the chalice. Aroma of funky Berry, oak, and bold acidic hints.
Flavor starts with moldy berries upfront with a mild oak nuance. Strong lactic tartness and some pucker in the finish. Sharp lemon juice. I understand why this appeals to some people but it’s not really my style.

(500ml bottle from boxbeers.dk shared) Pours clear deep reddish with a barely pink small lasting head and lace. Aroma of blackberry flesh and jam, slight black currant, wood, juniper, herbal notes, lemon. Palate is lightly tart, blackberry juice present but restrained, cranberry juice, light lactic acidity, herbal notes, woody, a bit of lemon. Gin character appears long into the aftertaste with slight menthol. Medium bodied with average but mouth-filling carbonation. Balanced brew, with the barrel rather prominent but not overbearing, blending nicely with the fruit. Very nice.

Bottle shared at home. Clear dark-ruby pour with a thin pink head with decent retention. Smells like blackberries, strawberries, bubblegum, vanilla, oak. The taste notes include blackberries, oak, quite strong pine resin / rosemary, lemon zest, mint, gin. A very nice combination of sour and barrel-aging components. Medium tartness, medium carbonation, medium mouthfeel, overall quite balanced. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bramble Barrel on 18 Aug 2016 at 23:38 - Score: 8
