Bramble Barrel is an American sour ale inspired by the Gin Bramble cocktail. This beer was brewed with a pound and a half per gallon of local blackberries and aged in NC made Cardinal Gin barrels, which contribute the essence of spearmint. Finished with fresh lemon zest, this sour is best served unshaken and unstirred. Cheers.

Bottle at Matteo’s Leaving drinks, shared by Danny. It pours hazy rich ruby - red with a small beige head. The aroma is rich, sweet - sour, tangy fruits, sour red berry, sherbet, lemon rind, granny smith apple, pepper and wood. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, sweet - sour, lemon rind, limeade, bramble, tangy red berry, jam, mild acidity and a touch of peppery spice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Tangy and fruity. A pretty approachable and quaffable sour.

Matteo’s Ciao @ Craft Islington. Thanks to Dan. Hazy deep cherry red beer, small pink head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Nice punchy bramble fruits, spicy. An enlivening lemon sour boost. Minerals.Light tangy finish. My kind of sour.

Bottle at Matteo caio tasting Craft Islington. Dark red beer. Some dark red fruit some sourness. Bramble. Liked the flavour. Just a bit too sour maybe. Good bramble jam fruit though.

Bottle shared in London - cheers! Pours clear amber-red with a creamy, off-white head. Nice tart berries in the nose, grape, earth. Light sweet flavour with moderate acidity, some acetic bite, leathery berries. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, lightly drying, with more leathery berries, lemony bite. Great stuff.

Bottle shared at the CBC Islington for the Matteo farewell tasting. Many thanks ro Daniel for this one. A clear plum pink red coloured pour with a lasting pink coloured head. Aroma is spicy, jammy, tangy plum, cherry, sour funk, sour cherry, woody, cherry sour. Palate is semi sweet and sour, highish carbonation, tangy. Spicy sour cherry.. Flavour is composed of OS semi sweet, tangy, plum, raspberry, cherry, woody. Spicy fruit finish. Really good. .

Bottle. It’s ruby to cherry red, unclear and with a dense candy pink head of moderate size. The aroma is quite berry-ish, with gale, tending towards mint, some lemon and cellar chiming in. It’s semi-dry on the palate, medium bodied and very smooth. Dark berries from the forest, some forest notes and mint on the quite funky flavor. Lasting berries and gale dominated finish. Sure nice and interesting, but it feels sort of weird. 161209

Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and light sour with a long warm, berry, funky, brett, zesty, citrus and gin finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Poured from bottle thanks Willrunforbeer dated 1/24/16 ruby red with a nice pinkish head. Aromas of raspberry blackberry and lemon. Taste is delicious not too tart well balanced.
