On tap at Bøker & Børst. A black beer topped by a nice tan head leaving lacing. The aroma is rather intense and delicious, with lots of coffee, as well as caramel, molasses, chocolate and some bread, burnt malt, soy sauce, licorice and alcohol. It’s sweet on the palate, too sweet but still delicious, full-bodied and smooth, with alcoholic warmth. Too much alcohol too actually, but it sort of suits the beer well. Coffee, caramel, chocolate and dark sugar flavor with some bread, soy sauce, licorice and burnt malts. Lasting finish. Even though it’s too sweet and warming, it’s a wonderful, delicious beer. 171020

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit, Three Year Anniversary Party. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, chocolate, coffee, warm light boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet light liquorice bitter with a silky smooth, rich, roasty, lactose, chocolate, liqouirce palate and an oily mouthfeel. Full bodied with flat carbonation. Smooth, rich and with plenty going on. Thankfully the alcohol is well in the background.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a big brown head. Coffee, chocolate, hot, coffee, red pepper, toast, biscuit, burnt maple syrup. Not much body for an Omnipollo imperial stout. Disappointing.
