Svart med ett litet skum. Rök, torv, aska och jod; allt man hittar i en rökig whisky. Endast den brännande alkoholen saknas; det gör inget. God, men kanske inte en öl för alla.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Black, small tan head. Peaty licorice aroma. Mid sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Peaty smoke, licorice, and caramel. Peppery warming finish.

Flaska från SB. Opak mörkbrun vätska utan skum. Doft av rökig whiskey och mörk torkad frukt. Inte jättestor kropp, värmande alkohol, whiskey, torv, lätt rökighet som växer allt mer och kanske tar över väl mycket. Gott annars.

Lighter body. Mildly boozy. Definitely has some wood taste and the sawdusty taste of whatever whisky was in it. It’s okay for the style, not near the top.

Les amoureux de Kilchoman seront comblés avec cette version 3 des Barrel Finished d'Emelisse puisque celle-ci met très bien en valeur de whisky tourbé de l'île d'Islay. Et si l'intégration de celui-ci se fait très bien avec la base de l'imperial stout, les arômes de whisky sont tout de même trop poussés prenant très largement le pas sur les autres. Toutefois en aucun cas celui n'est agressif avec un ensemble qui se tient bien. Le visuel est sur un noir total surmonté d'une mousse brune de 3 mm. Au nez, cela sent for le whisky tourbé, avec café et chocolat. L'ensemble est plaisant (pour qui aime le Kilchoman donc !). Sur l'attaque la base de l'imperial stout avec chocolat, café et une touche de poivre se fait encore relativement bien ressentir. C'est davantage ne seconde bouche que le whisky prend très nettement l'ascendant. Belle présence en bouche avec des arômes pleins et intenses. L’arrière-bouche est plus portée sur l'alcool (titrage à 11 %). Joli final, long et bien équilibré. De belles qualités sur cet Imperial Stout qui s'est un peu oublié sur le whisky.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of smoke, licorice, dark chocolate, some ripe cherry, roasted malt and whisky. Taste has smoke, peat, tarr, dark bitter chocolate, licorice, roasted malt, burned caramel, vanilla, ripe cherry and a long finish. Very good, the bitter roasted stout works well with the fruity smokey scotch. Emelisse seems to have refound its quality, lately the barrel aged beers have had a steady high quality again.
