Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout aged for three months in Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrels. Deep ebony hue with a beautiful mahogany head, an aroma of fresh-baked bread, toffee, and espresso mingling with the woody vanilla notes of Bourbon whiskey and the rich roasted flavors wrapped with Bourbon.

Bottle shared. Pours a deep brown to black with a small head that lingers. Lovely bourbon nose with some light wood and muted vanilla. Thin and light but not boozy at all. Chocolate milk and hazelnut. Light roasted finish. Light but solid.

Draft at Growler Guys: Dark brown pour with a smaller tan head. The aroma… fantastic. One of the best smelling stouts I’ve ever had. Mild bits of the Wild Turkey barrel treatment, loads of German chocolate cake, vanilla, mocha… it’s divine at this point. The mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, but good coffee flavor and a light bit of chocolate. Moderate barrel notes. Had the makings of a world class stout, but doesn’t quite make the finish line.

Bottle at a tasting. Bourbon and stout elements married in harmony here. Coconut, woody, liquorish. Restrained roastiness, rather dried fruits. Good, not great.

Bottle kindly shared by Miro, many thanks. Very dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of dried fruits, plums, dark malt. Taste, red fruits, red berries, light dark malt. Too much fruity for stout, but overall good.

Deep rust-brown beer under a thick brown-beige head. Bourbon jumping out of the glass with vanilla, fresh oak rosewater, pepper. More Bourbon, but lighter in the mouth; milder than the nose suggests. Very light but present acidic touch. Vinous it is, though. Not very full-bodied, however. Bit light in MF. Low to medium carbonation. Lighter then one expects from this type of beer. But none the worse for it, really.
