Gemiste kans.

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', bottled in August 2018. Clear, deep red with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, fruity-resiny and slightly grassy aroma of caramel, mango and some pine. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently fruity, slightly resiny and a bit grassy taste of caramel, mango, orange jam and some pine, followed by a short, medium bitter, gently resiny and slightly grassy finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice!

Amber ale by this bird-centered Amsterdam brewing company, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Opening, snow white, irregular head leaving dots in the middle of a copper-hued amber coloured beer. Aroma of fried red onions, red bell pepper, olive oil, cheese crackers, stewed shallot, hard caramel candy, pine nuts. Clean fruitiness in the mouth, quite “Anglo-Saxon” indeed with notes of red apple peel and dried red berries, quite fizzy carb, slick and lightly oily mouthfeel, peanutty and a bit caramelly but low in sweetness, leading to a hop-coloured finish with oniony and paprika-like aspects adding to a main grapefruit peel theme, quite aromatic and more citrusy in the end, while the malts below acquire a light metallic edge; maltiness remains dominant, hop bitterness relatively limited for this kind of ale. Enjoyable enough and it is exactly what it is: an amber ale in the modern American style, a style a bit overshadowed by all those IPAs and other more ‘outspokenly flavoured’ craft beer trends.

Tap at Beer Garden. Hazy pale amber with white head. Sweet malts, light resin, dry grass. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Very easy drinking.
